Special Letter from Bob Shinedling
regarding his father Richard "Dick" Shinedling a jazz enthusiast of the Suncoast Jazz Classic & Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Society.
To Whom it may concern,
I am letting you know that festival notices can stop being sent because my Dad passed away almost three years ago July. As an avid jazz enthusiast he and his friends loved attending your festivals yearly until his health prohibited the trips.
If you remember him you know he wws very much a part of the jazz culture, having amassed over 3000 records dating back to the early 1900's (whenever it was that Jazz records began.) This in addition to many books and actual tapes that he personally recorded in early live sessions from many jazz hot spots around the states. His collection now resides in the musical archives of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. A plaque commemorates his gift.
At one time he wrote articles for Downbeat Magazine, hosted a local radio show and new many of the great early musicians personally. As a young boy I remember Wild Bill Davidson visiting him in our home in Lake Worth, Florida. That must have been in the 60's. I hope somebody in your circle of enthusiasts remembers him, He was truly one of you.
Please remove him from your mailing list. Save the postage so that you can continue to spread the word and preserve the music for as long as possible.
